Andre Iguodala has been ruled out of the next five games for the Philadelphia 76ers

Blogged under Big Sixers News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries,Need to step up by admin on Friday 31 December 2010 at 10:47 pm

26-year old starting small forward Andre Iguodala has been ruled out of the next five games to rest his right Achilles (tendinitis).  Iguodala has played in 25 games (all starts) for the 76ers so far this year and he is averaging 37.6 minutes, 14.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.3 steals per game.  31-year old Andres Nocioni will be replacing Iguodala in the starting lineup.  Nocioni has played in 28 games (11 starts) for the Sixers so far this year and he is averaging 19.4 minutes, 7.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.  Nocioni’s last start went pretty well against the Suns as he scored 22 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and he dished out 2 assists in 41 minutes on the court.  I have a feeling that Nocioni will do a good job for the Sixers as long as A.I. is out of action.

Philadelphia 76ers 123, Phoenix Suns 110

The 76ers shot 54.9% from the floor and they outrebounded the Suns 46-31 in a dominating effort.  The Sixers outscored the Suns 57-45 in the second half as they pulled away to victory.  Jrue Holiday led the way for the Sixers in this game with 25 points, 3 rebounds and 7 assists last night.  Evan Turner came off the bench to score 23 points, grab 5 rebounds, dish out 1 assist and steal the ball twice as he looked good.  Andres Nocioni got the start at small forward for the Sixers last night in the place of Andre Iguodala who’s dinged up right now.  All he did was score 22 points, snap up 12 rebounds and dish out 2 assists as he played a great game for the Sixers.  Spencer Hawes (10 points), Lou Williams (10 points) and Thaddeus Young (15 points) also pitched in for the Sixers last night.  The 76ers are now 13-19 as they are starting to look more and more like a decent basketball team.

Jrue Holiday is really stepping up lately for the Philadelphia 76ers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Wednesday 29 December 2010 at 12:48 am

20-year old point guard Jrue Holiday has been on fire lately for the Sixers.  In his last three games, Holiday is averaging 36.7 minutes, 20.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 1.0 steal per game.  He is shooting a red hot 56.4% from the floor over his last three games.  Holiday has now played in 31 games (all starts) so far this year and he is averaging 34.2 minutes, 13.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game.  He really has improved from his rookie year to this season and the Sixers hope that continues.

Golden State Warriors 110, Philadelphia 76ers 95

The 76ers outrebounded the Warriors 54-44 but they were outscored 34-24 in the 4th quarter and it did them in.  Jrue Holiday led the way for the Sixers last night with 23 points, 2 rebounds, 11 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot.  Jodie Meeks also filled up the stat sheet last night with 19 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot.  Elton Brand (16 points, 16 rebounds and 3 assists) and Thaddeus Young (15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists) really helped out around the basket for the Sixers.  The 76ers are now 12-19 on the season.

The 76ers outscored the Nuggets 29-18 in the 4th quarter to surge to a nice road win last night.  Jrue Holiday led the way for the Sixers in this game with 22 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal.  Thaddeus Young was solid off the bench in this game for the Sixers with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot.  Jodie Meeks only shot 3 of 12 from the floor but he still finished up with 17 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist and 1 steal in this game.  Elton Brand was a force in the paint last night with 16 points, 17 rebounds, 1 steal and 3 blocked shots.  The 76ers are now 12-18 on the season.

Boston Celtics 84, Philadelphia 76ers 80

The 76ers just couldn’t get anything going offensively last night and it hurt them in this game as they wasted a good defensive effort.  Elton Brand led the way for the 76ers in this game with 16 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot.  Jrue Holiday also had a solid game with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal.  Lou Williams (12 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists in 22 minutes) and Tony Battie (10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocked shots) were effective off the bench for the Sixers last night.  The 76ers are now 11-18 on the season.

The rookies have not added much to the Philadelphia 76ers this year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Report by admin on Thursday 23 December 2010 at 3:24 am

22-year old SG/SF Evan Turner started the year in the Sixers’ starting lineup but he has lost his job to Jodie Meeks.  Turner has played in 27 games (12 starts) for the 76ers so far this year and he is averaging 23.6 minutes, 6.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.  He is only shooting 39.2% from the floor this year and he will need to improve on that quite a bit if he wants to get back into the starting lineup any time soon.  23-year old power forward Craig Brackins has only played in 1 game for the Sixers so far this year and he played 10 minutes in which he scored 6 points, grabbed 1 rebound and he dished out 1 assist.  Brackins has spent some time in the D-League this year because the Sixers have a lot of depth in the frontcourt.

Chicago Bulls 121, Philadelphia 76ers 76

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Wednesday 22 December 2010 at 9:24 pm

The Sixers only shot 35% from the floor which is pretty darn bad but the defense was even worse as the Bulls shot an amazing 64.5% from the floor!  That explains the scoreboard in this game!  Andre Iguodala led the way for the 76ers in this game with 17 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.  Thaddeus Young pitched in with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals in 26 minutes off the bench.  Jodie Meeks & Jrue Holiday each had 9 points apiece last night.  The 76ers are now 11-17 on the season.

Philadelphia 76ers 97, Orlando Magic 89

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Sunday 19 December 2010 at 4:59 am

The Magic only had 8 players due to the two big trades they made earlier on Saturday and the Sixers took advantage of that.  The Magic still outrebounded the Sixers 53-39 but in the end the Sixers were the better team tonight.  Lou Williams led the way in this game for the 76ers with 24 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot in 30 minutes on the floor.  Andre Iguodala was solid in this game with 21 points, 3 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals.  Elton Brand pitched in with 20 points, 13 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 3 blocked shots.  The 76ers are now 11-16 on the season.

The Sixers were actually leading this game 63-58 after the first three quarters before the roof caved in on them.  The Sixers only shot 37.5% from the floor as the basket often looked like it had a lid on it.  Andre Iguodala led the way for the Sixers in this game with 18 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals.  Spencer Hawes had another solid game with 18 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocked shots.  Elton Brand pitched in with 8 points, 8 rebounds and 1 steal in this game.  The 76ers are now 10-16 on the year.
