The Philadelphia 76ers need Thaddeus Young back in the starting lineup

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Saturday 27 November 2010 at 3:25 pm

The Sixers need to get 22-year old foward Thaddeus Young back into the starting lineup.  Young has played in 16 games (1 start) for the Sixers so far this year and he is averaging 24.4 minutes, 11.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.  He is shooting a hot 59% from the floor so far this year.  The Sixers should be rebuilding with youth because they aren’t going anywhere this year.

The Philadelphia 76ers need Spencer Hawes to step up

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Need to step up by alleyoop on Tuesday 23 November 2010 at 3:14 pm

Doug Collins says that Spencer Hawes will remain the starting center for the time being. Hawes played in 13 games (all starts) for the 76ers last season and he is averaging 16.2 minutes, 5.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. It’s not like the Sixers have a lot of alternatives to Hawes anyway as they just aren’t too good of a team right now as evidenced by their 3-10 record right now.

The Philadelphia 76ers will be without Andre Iguodala a while

Blogged under Big Sixers News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries by alleyoop on Friday 19 November 2010 at 1:12 am

The Sixers will be without 26-year old starting shooting guard Andre Iguodala a while due to a Achilles injury. Iguodala has played in 8 games (all starts) for the Sixers so far this year and he is averaging 33.6 minutes, 12.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.0 steal per game. He has been replaced in the starting lineup by rookie Evan Turner who has been doing a decent job. But, they still miss Iguodala who is the best player on the team right now.

Jrue Holiday is stepping up for the Philadelphia 76ers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by alleyoop on Tuesday 16 November 2010 at 5:21 pm

20-year old point guard Jrue Holiday is stepping up big time for the Sixers so far this year. Holiday has played in 10 games (all starts) for the Sixers so far this year and he is averaging 34.7 minutes, 14.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 1.9 steals per game. His shooting is also looking pretty good this year as he is hitting 44.6% from the floor, 42.9% from three point range and 74.2% from the free throw line so far. If Holiday keeps shooting like he is right now I look for the Sixers to start prodding him to shoot more.

Evan Turner is likely in line for a bump in P.T. soon for the Philadelphia 76ers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Report by alleyoop on Tuesday 16 November 2010 at 5:19 pm

Rookie SG Evan Turner is playing pretty well for the Sixers so far this year. He has played in 10 games (4 starts) for the Sixers so far this year and he is averaging 28.7 minutes, 8.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. His shooting could use some improvement (44.4%) but he still deserves to see a bump in P.T. Maybe he will get it due to Andre Iguodala being banged up right now.

Washington Wizards 116, Philadelphia 76ers 115 in OT

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by alleyoop on Wednesday 3 November 2010 at 1:51 pm

The 76ers shot 55% from the floor last night but it just wasn’t good enough to win. Cartier Martin of the Wizards hit a 3-pointer with 0.4 seconds in this game to send it to O.T. where the Wizards prevailed. Lou Williams led the way for the Sixers with 30 points, 1 rebound and 3 assists last night. Elton Brand filled up the stat sheet with 21 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals and 1 blocked shot. Jrue Holiday (14 points, 3 rebounds and 13 assists) and Andre Iguodala (12 points, 3 rebounds, 9 assists and 2 steals) also had solid games for the Sixers last night. The 76ers are now 0-4 on the year.

Louis Williams is playing well for the Philadelphia 76ers this year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by alleyoop on Tuesday 2 November 2010 at 2:42 pm

24-year old SG/PG Louis Williams is playing solid basketball for the 76ers so far this year. Williams has played in 3 games (0 starts) for the Sixers this year and he is averaging 24.7 minutes, 16.3 points, 1.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game. He is also shooting great from anywhere on the floor right now. He is making 50% of his shots from the floor, 55.6% from three point range and he is making 88.9% of his free throws so far this year. Second year point guard Jrue Holiday better get his act together because I’m sure Williams wants his starting job back.
