Rookie shooting guard Jodie Meeks has been awful since coming over from the Bucks in a trade at the deadline last month. Meeks has played in 9 games (0 starts) for the 76ers this season and he is averaging 4.9 minutes, 1.6 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.1 assists per game. He is only shooting 21.1% from the floor for the Sixers which just won’t get him on the basketball court. Meeks does have talent but it might take some time to develop as he looks overmatched right now.

Samuel Dalembert has been pretty solid for the Philadelphia 76ers this season

The 76ers tried to trade Samuel Dalembert this season but no one would take him because of his gigantic contract. Dalembert played in 71 games (70 starts) for the Sixers last season and he is averaging 25.8 minutes, 7.9 points, 9.6 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 2.0 blocked shots per game. Dalembert is shooting 53.3% from the floor but most of his shots are putbacks and dunks which explains his %. Dalembert is still a good rebounder and defender so he is not hurting the team when he is on the court.

The Philadelphia 76ers need to start cutting Elton Brand’s minutes

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Need to step up, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 11 March 2010 at 2:11 pm

The Philadelphia 76ers need to start cutting 31-year old Elton Brand’s minutes as he is starting to look like a old man on the basketball court. Brand has played in 57 games (38 starts) this season for the Sixers in which he is averaging 30.7 minutes, 13.7 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.2 blocked shots per game. The Sixers should be giving a lot of Brand’s minutes to Marreese Speights who is a up and comer.

Atlanta Hawks 112, Philadelphia 76ers 93

The Sixers got outrebounded 47-32 last night and they didn’t play any D as the Hawks shot 50% so the scoreboard shouldn’t shock anyone. Lou Williams led the way for the Sixers last night with 30 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Willie Green had a solid game of the bench with 17 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists last night. Andre Iguodala pitched in with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists last night for the Sixers. Samuel Dalembert was the only player who really brought his A-game near the basket for the Sixers last night as he finished up with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. The 76ers are now 22-38 on the year.

Orlando Magic 126, Philadelphia 76ers 105

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Game Recaps, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 2 March 2010 at 9:22 am

The Sixers didn’t play any defense as the Magic shot 58.4% from the floor and it killed them last night. Jrue Holiday led the way for the Sixers last night with 23 points and 6 assists in 28 minutes on the court. Andre Iguodala (19 points), Thaddeus Young (17 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists) and Samuel Dalembert (12 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocked shots and 2 steals) all came to play last night but it wasn’t enough to compete with the Magic. The 76ers are now 22-37 on the year.
