The 76ers really like the potential of forwards Jason Smith and Thaddeus Young so look for their playing time to increase soon. Smith has played in 28 games so far this season for the Sixers and he is averaging 15.8 minutes, 4.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. Young has played in 20 games so far this season and he is averaging 10.4 minutes, 4.2 points, 2.5 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. F/C Herbert Hill has been out all season thus far due to injury.

2nd year man Rodney Carney needs to step up and give the Sixers quality minutes off the bench. Carney played well as a rookie last season and he needsto play better than he has so far in December. Carney has only played in 3 games so far in December and he has averaged 7.3 minutes, 2.3 points and 1.0 rebound per game. He also is only shooting 28.6% from the floor and that’s no way to earn more playing time.

Center Samuel Dalembert and power forward Reggie Evans are giving the Sixers solid work so far in December. He also is shooting 57.1% from the floor which is excellent. Reggie Evans has also started 6 games this month and he’s providing some muscle near the hoop. In the 6 games he’s played this month he’s averaging 26.0 minutes, 7.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 1.0 steal per game. The 76ers need the big men to keep up the good work.

The Philadelphia 76ers are off to a slow start

Blogged under Bloglockers, Game Recaps, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 11 December 2007 at 4:33 pm

The 76ers are off to a slow start as they are currently in 4th place in the Atlantic Division which a 8-13 record which has them 10 games behind the Celtics. The Sixers have trouble scoring and that’s unlikely to change as they are only scoring 93.0 points per game. The Sixers will have to keep up the good work on defense as they are only allowing 93.6 points per game which isn’t too shabby if they want to start winning more games.

Willie Green is heaving up bricks for the Philadelphia 76ers

Blogged under Bloglockers, Need to step up, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 5 December 2007 at 10:31 am

Willie Green was given the starting job at shooting guard heading into this season and he’s only hitting 39.2% of his shots from the floor. He has played in 16 games this season and he’s averaging 29.1 minutes, 11.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. If Green doesn’t start to play better soon he will get replaced in the starting lineup because the Sixers are having trouble scoring points.
