The Philadelphia 76ers sign center Calvin Booth

Blogged under Big Sixers News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 11 September 2007 at 11:43 am

The 76ers have signed reserve center Calvin Booth to replace Steven Hunter as Samuel Dalembert’s backup at center. Booth is known most for his defense because he’s not a good offensive player. He played in 44 games (1 start) last season for the Wizards and he averaged 8.6 minutes, 1.6 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. He hit 47% of his shots from the floor and 75.3% from the free throw line.

Booth has now played in 327 games (83 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 12.9 minutes, 3.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, 0.4 assists and 1.0 block per game. He has hit 45.3% of his shots from the floor and 75.3% of his shots from the free throw line during his career. Don’t expect a whole lot of him when he’s on the court but he won’t hurt the team when he’s on the floor.

i think this is a decent signing. Booth is not a good offensive player but he has average offence. he probably will play at most 35 games and will get some blocks in and rebounds but its says he has only 3 points a game and 1 assist so his offence will nto have any affect. but since were paying him $500,000 and i think hes worth 1.5 million so it was a good deal! i hope he helpes us this year!
